The main thing that has drawn me to Ali's Story Kits and Story Stamps is that many times they get me to tell past stories or stories I may have not thought to document. I'm usually so consumed with telling stories that are going on now, and keeping my albums and journals current. Two out of three of my kids have blankies. They're now 7 and 9. Those blankies are still a part of our daily lives. But I've never written down how they came to be attached to those blankies. When I saw that this month's theme was fabric, I knew immediately that I needed to get this story in writing.
Initially I was going to write each of their stories seperately. As I was going through old photos, I came across one of my favorites of them together, both with their blankies, so I chose to write both stories on the same layout. There were already some circle elements in the kit this month, so I decided to punch the photo with a circle punch. I also cut pieces of their blankies into circles and had my mom sew them onto the layout for me.
I will likely retell the stories individually in the kids own journals also. I just love how this layout came together. Definitely one of my favorites!
